Window Shopping Wednesday

Hello Mikarose Fans,

Today is Window Shopping Wednesday, and Mikarose wants to feature Jamie who sells Bijou Michelle Jewelry in the Mikarose Store.

Tell us about yourself–I am from the Bay Area in California.  I grew up in Saratoga and San Jose, but lived all over the Bay Area.  I am of Lebanese decent.  I graduated from BYU in Nutrition, Dietetics and studied to be a Registered Dietician.  Lived in Port-au-Price, Haiti, for a few years, learned Haitian Creole and French.  I lived outside of Portland, Oregon for several years and worked with the Latino Migrant Workers for 5 years as the Nutrition Supervisor at a Head Start for Migrant Worker’s kids where I learned Spanish enough to feed many Spanish speaking children.  I now find myself and family including, my husband and four kids in Orem, Utah. I also love to cook, and I enjoy fitness activities like hiking, running, yoga which clears my head. I enjoy learning about and visiting other cultures, countries and learning languages.

What do you enjoy about Jewelry making? I have been making some form of jewelry since I was a child, but increased my skills as an adult when I worked in Oregon.  I have always been drawn to the creative arts, also dabbling in stained glass and floral art, which started in High School.  I love the creative outlet that jewelry gives me.  It is extremely versatile and allows me to use what is clogged up in my brain just waiting to burst out.  Also, I get to wear my creations and being able to sell it to other people makes me so happy.

Why did you choose this as a career?  I have always been a creator. From stained glass to floral arts to jewelry making and accessories, these things satisfy my artistic craving.  Any piece to me is a treasure but when I started selling more and more I realized how much I love creating and sharing with others.  When someone else loves the work you do, well, its an amazing feeling.  I have sold many pieces, yet still am amazed each time I get paid for creating. Many times I can’t sleep at night thinking of things that need to be made, and when I do sleep, ideas keep coming in my dreams!  It is a little big kooky, but what a joy!  I love to work, and have had many jobs, but never have I felt so amazed by the feeling of getting paid for something I find so much joy and satisfaction. It is a dream come true.

What do you love about Mikarose? Mikarose clothing style to me is feminine, beautiful, flattering, and sophisticated.  That makes my jewelry compliment many of the style, so we work together beautifully.

What makes your Jewelry unique?  Although jewelry is a very personal accessory, I find my designs are readily accepted to a wide range of the population. I am skilled at many types of jewelry making, but the ones I gravitate toward are the feminine, Bohemian, Vintage and what I call Vintage Funky. I love to make something out of what seems like nothing or just parts and pieces.  I just love to make what people love.

XO.

Hello Mikarose Fashionistas,

Wednesday is a chance to see other boutiques that carry Mikarose Clothing and many other pieces of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. This week’s feature is: d.diff.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I am Diana Diffendaffer and I own a women’s and children’s boutique in North Platte, NE. My store name is d.diff….after my name.
Q: Tell us about the boutique

A: d.diff is a mid-priced boutique featuring brands that are new to the area. Some are very well known brands; some brands are completely new for my shoppers. We are a store for young and/or hip moms! I would love for people to come and check out the store! It has a really neat, eclectic, vintage decor. I often post pics of new merchandise on my facebook page, but I do not have a web-site, at this time.

Q: What do you enjoy about running a boutique?

A: I really enjoy working with my customers! I am a mom that wants to wear on-trend, but age approproiate clothes and accessories, so I know how to relate to a lot of my customers with first-hand experience on fit and body trouble-spots.

Q: What do you like about Mikarose Clothing?

A: I like the Mikarose brand for the fit and feel of many of the pieces. A lot of my customers appreciate the neck and hemlines. The price-point is great, too.

Hello Mikarose Fashionistas,

Wednesday is a chance to see other boutiques that carry Mikarose Clothing and many other pieces of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. This week’s feature is: Jen Clothing.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and where your business is based.

A: I’m Jen Loch, owner of the modest clothing boutique Jen Clothing. I’m a wife and a mother of 3 little ones. I’ve always loved fashion, and as a Latter-Day Saint/Christian woman I had a hard time when I was younger because I felt like I had to choose between fashion and modesty. I didn’t always choose modesty. After I got married I gained a deeper respect for modesty and understanding of it’s importance.

Q: What is your boutique? What kinds of items do you sell?

A: I soon found a passion for helping young women discover the value of modesty and that “modest fashion” is not an oxymoron! In 2004 I founded the modest fashion magazine Jen Magazine (http://www.jenmagazine.com) and have since been a pioneer in the modest fashion industry for over 8 years. While running Jen Magazine I noticed there was an obvious need for the availability of fashionable and affordable modest clothing, even in Utah where I had assumed it would be readily available. I created Jen Clothing to meet that need and make modest clothing easily available to all women. We sell modest dresses for church and every day, tops, skirts and modest swimwear. We also sell semi-formal and formal dresses. Jen Clothing has been in business for over 4 years and we recently celebrated our 7,000th happy customer! You can visit us online at http://www.jenclothing.com. We are based in Utah but we specialize in selling online to people who don’t have modest clothing available locally.

Q: What do you enjoy most about running a boutique/business?

A: I love being able to look at fashion and work in clothing all day. Sometimes I find myself shopping instead of working, LOL. When I’m not working I still love to look at clothes!

Q: What do you like about Mikarose Clothing?

A: I think the best thing about Mikarose clothing is the balance of design and quality to price. By offering fashionable, good quality products that are modest and affordable, Mikarose is able to meet the needs of modern modest women.

Q: What is the best way for people to find boutique?

A: Contact Jen at jen@jenclothing.com http://www.jenclothing.com

We have doubled our downtown store to 6000 sq ft to include a mens section called Banjo (www.banjooutpost.com) we also added a new store accross the beautiful river in our city of Saskatoon in the Trendy Broadway area. our on-line store www.farminista.com will be up and running by the fall.

Q: What do you enjoy most about running a boutique/business?

A: We love to help a stressed out customer find what they need and see them leave happy!!! It is a rewarding job! we have had girls come back to let us know the special dress they bought for a date ended up being proposal outfit and others nervous about a wedding or other special event feel confident that they looked special and unique. We try to keep memorable clothing in our boutique- so sometimes we see customers with a dress they bought 3 summers ago and they love it so much they save it in their closet all winter to wear again and again- timeless!

Hello Mikarose Fashionistas,

Wednesday is a chance to see other boutiques that carry Mikarose Clothing and many other pieces of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. This week’s feature is: Margene’s Bridal.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and where your business is based.

A: Margene’s Bridal is the only bridal store in Idaho to serve the Eastern and Western sides of the state, with locations in Idaho Falls and Boise.

Q: What is your boutique? What kinds of items do you sell?

A: We sell gowns for all formal occasions. Primarily we sell Wedding Gowns and bridesmaids but also do formal dances and pageants. We also help with ready to wear dresses as well. For the men we rent tuxedo’s.

Q: What do you enjoy most about running a boutique/business?

A: Yes there are the bridezillas that no matter how well to try to help them it will never be good enough and all they want to do is yell and complain but when you can help someone find the perfect dress for a special occasion whether it be her wedding or her first prom or competing for Miss America you get to be part of something magical!

Q: What is the best way for people to look at your merchandise? Website? Etc?

A: The best way to shop for a formal gown is to visit the store and see the actual gown. Many websites now will steal the pictures from the designers and not have access to the real gowns and sell a cheap copy. We help design the majority of the formal gowns that are in our store and do our own photo shoot for our website. The photos are a sampling of what is available in the store and in no way represents the entire collection. It is important if you do look online to check with the designer of the gown to see if the store is authorized to sell that dress. If not keep shopping!

Q: What do you like about Mikarose Clothing?

A: Mikarose is so great style option for many functions! Not only do our consultants wear the clothing to work, we also ordered dresses for my sisters wedding! They are very versatile pieces that can be dressed up for formal occasions or dressed down for church and work.
